The project is planned for launch in the second half of 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative aims to create a European digital payment standard, providing a local alternative to U.S.-based stablecoins and supporting the EU\u2019s strategic autonomy in payments.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside ING and UniCredit, the project involves Spain\u2019s CaixaBank, Denmark\u2019s Danske Bank, Austria\u2019s Raiffeisen Bank International, Belgium\u2019s KBC, Sweden\u2019s SEB, Germany\u2019s DekaBank, and Italy\u2019s Banca Sella. The founding members have established a new company, headquartered in the Netherlands, to oversee the development and management of the stablecoin.<\/p>\n<p>According to the joint statement, the euro stablecoin will be issued in compliance with MiCA standards, ensuring clear regulations regarding security, transparency, and European legal compliance.
