Google search interest for the term \u201calt season\u201d has dropped by more than 50% in the past week, according to search data. The decline comes just days after searches for \u201caltcoin\u201d reached their highest level since 2021, while \u201cEthereum\u201d recorded a two-year peak.<\/p>\n

The altcoin rally proved short-lived. Dogecoin (DOGE)<\/a> and XRP<\/a> both surged about 19% during the two weeks ending on August 13, before losing most of those gains, dropping roughly 11% in the past seven days, according to CoinMarketCap data.<\/p>\n

Economist Alex Krueger questioned the authenticity of the sudden surge in searches, suggesting it may have been artificially amplified by automated activity.<\/p>\n

Crypto investors and traders often track online search trends for terms like \u201calt season\u201d or \u201cBitcoin,\u201d viewing them as indicators of retail interest and potential FOMO.
